AUCKLAND, NZ
This Labor Weekend, the Auckland Showgrounds will transform into a world of fantasy, science fiction, and pop culture. The Armageddon Expo marks its 30th anniversary from October 24 to 27, welcoming tens of thousands of fans from across New Zealand and abroad.
Once a small “Doctor Who” video day for a handful of enthusiasts, Armageddon has become a four-day celebration of creativity and connection. It is now one of Aotearoa’s largest cultural gatherings and a major contributor to Auckland’s economy.
From humble origins to a national phenomenon
Armageddon’s journey mirrors the rise of modern fandom. It began in the early 1990s as a small community event. Over time, it expanded to include film, television, comics, anime, and gaming, industries worth billions worldwide.
