Western Australia is gearing up for a colourful celebration on Saturday, 11 October 2025. The Haryanvi Association of Western Australia (HAWA) will host the Multicultural Haryana Day Mela 2025 at Kennedy Baptist College, Murdoch.
This much-awaited event is proudly supported by FIAWA (Federation of Indian Associations of Western Australia) and BJSM (Bihar Jharkhand Sabha Australia & New Zealand).
What is Haryana Day?
Haryana Day marks the formation of the state of Haryana in 1966, after it separated from Punjab. It celebrates Haryana’s strong farming traditions, athletic excellence, and proud history of bravery.
Across India, people observe this day with folk dances like Ghoomar and Phag, lively wrestling matches, and traditional delicacies such as bajra roti, makhan, and lassi.
Now, the same festive joy will arrive in Perth. Communities will join hands to share the state’s rich culture, music, and flavours. Moreover, the event offers a great opportunity to connect with people from different backgrounds while celebrating unity in diversity.
A Blend of Haryana, Punjab, and Bollywood
This year’s Mela promises a stunning mix of Bollywood glamour, Punjabi beats, and Haryanvi folk tunes. As a result, visitors can expect non-stop entertainment with live DJ sets, energetic dance numbers, and soulful singing.
In addition, cultural groups from across Western Australia will showcase traditional performances. Meanwhile, food stalls will serve North Indian favourites like spicy parathas, crisp pakoras, and syrupy jalebis. Altogether, it will be a feast for every sense.
