A new, community-first digital newsroom for Aotearoa New Zealand, launched on an auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi
Today we cut the digital ribbon on Webfit News, a New Zealand based news and community platform built to inform, include, and amplify local voices. In many Indian homes, new beginnings start with the blessing of Lord Ganesha, Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles and the patron of knowledge and good judgement. It feels right to begin our newsroom’s journey under that symbol of wisdom and optimism.
Why we are here
Webfit News is designed for readers who want concise and credible updates about what is happening around the corner and across the Tasman. We will cover local council decisions, small-business stories, community events, sport, and culture. Our editorial lens is proudly New Zealand. We will carry special coverage for Kiwi-Indians and the wider South Asian diaspora whose work and stories enrich Aotearoa.
Ganpati Visheshta and our newsroom
Visheshta means special quality. It guides our launch in three practical ways:

- Accuracy first. Two-source verification wherever practical. Headlines that match the story. Quotes and images used with permission.
- Right of reply. We seek responses from people and organisations that are criticised or affected.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it fast and note the change on the article.
- Safe content standards. Extra care with stories involving children, court matters, and vulnerable communities.
