- Role as Venue Provider Only. The Pukekohe Indian Association’s involvement was strictly limited to acting as the venue partner. Our responsibility was solely to provide the grounds and facilities to the event hirers, as is our standard practice for any third-party organization renting our space.
- No Operational or Organizing Responsibility The PIA had no role in organizing the event, managing logistics, or coordinating the celebrity guest and her performance troupe. All arrangements regarding the performance and personnel were the sole responsibility of the hiring party.
- No Knowledge of Immigration Matters: The Pukekohe Indian Association was entirely unaware of the fraudulent visa applications or any issues involving the performers’ and crew’s immigration status. We were neither consulted on nor informed of the visa processes undertaken by the event organizers.
- No Supporting Documentation Provided. We wish to state categorically that the PIA did not provide any supporting letters or documentation to any individuals for immigration purposes, not for this Holi event, nor for any event before this. We do not facilitate or sponsor visa applications for third-party hirers.
As a long-standing community organization, we pride ourselves on transparency and our commitment to local safety. We trust this statement clarifies that our association was not involved in the organization or immigration aspects of this event.

CD Foundation categorically denies any involvement beyond its role as organiser of the cultural programme and remains fully committed to lawful, dignified, and responsible international cultural exchange.
It may be noted that CD Foundation had earlier organised the Indian Festival in New Zealand during Independence Week in August 2025, in association with the Consulate General of India, Auckland, featuring Ms. Shibani Kashyap. That celebration received exceptional public visibility and became a memorable symbol of Indo–New Zealand friendship, with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Opposition Leader Chris Hipkins joining Ms. Shibani Kashyap on the dance floor during the programme. The festival was brought together by 26 delegates from India, including artists, chefs, crew members, and other representatives, and reflected the positive scale and goodwill of our cultural exchange efforts.
Similarly, the February 2026 cultural exchange programme was also undertaken with positive intent and meaningful community engagement. It is therefore deeply unfortunate that the present incident has marred the goodwill and cultural bridge-building achieved through these initiatives.
